I think most of us know someone who has been affected by HIV/AIDS. Either someone we know has it, or someone we know has a loved one who has it. In these days of deep budget cuts, more support than ever is needed for prevention, medical care, and services for those suffering from this pandemic. And even though AIDS is not in the news as much as it used to be, it is still with us.
That is why I’ve decided to participate in the NorCal AIDS challenge… a 330 mile/four day bike ride through Northern California in May, to raise money for organizations in our area providing services to those affected by HIV/AIDS. Yes, this is a LONG ride, and will be a huge challenge for me. But it is nothing compared to the challenges faced by those affected by this disease every day.
My friend Ken, has been HIV+ for more than twenty years. No one expected him to live as long as he has, but thanks to excellent strides in medical research and care he has exceeded expectations. I am riding in his honor.

But now, The Red Baron and I have got to get back to my training. May 12th will be here before I know it. And 330 miles is a lot of riding!
