With less than eighty days before the start of NorCal AIDS Cycle, my training and fund-raising is heading into high gear. The weather has been generally conducive to riding, for better or worse, so I’ve been putting some mileage into my legs and lungs. Three-hundred and thirty miles of riding will be here before I know it. Fund-raising is fairly well on track, though I am only about forty percent of the way to my goal of raising six-thousand dollars for 2014.
One of the NCAC beneficiaries which is lesser known to Sacramentans, is Caring Choices, providing services that are currently non-existent or limited in availability and accessibility, improving community services through volunteerism. Based in the area around Chico and Redding, one of their core programs is providing services for HIV/AID patients. Caring Choices provides complete services including case management, healthcare services, dietary counseling, and support services. The more rural areas of our state receive virtually no government funding, so the funds received from NorCal AIDS Cycle are more important than ever.
